I don't give out many 5 star reviews. But this one definitely qualifies. If you have an electrical or mechanical problem start here. Lots of good, well explained information for those of use who are not experts. This book was a great help in redoing my electrical system, as well as helping me understand numerous systems on my boat. Calder covers how things work, limitations, purchase and design considerations, integration with other systems and practical pros and cons. Would I buy this again? ABSOLUTELY-I can recommend this book with no limitations.
Packed with Information
If you have a boat you need this book. It's full of detailed info on how to fix just about anything on board. Lots of pictures and explanations on how things work and typical problems. Don't leave the dock without it.
Don't leave the slip without it
Buy this book before you buy the boat. If you just bought a boat, buy the required Coast Guard equipment and this book at the same time. If you're an experienced seaman, you should already own it. This book covers it all, Mr, Calder's opinions and practices are "on the mark". It is a wealth of knowledge and easily worth the money spent. Every other maintenance book supplements this text. It's the "gold standard".
