How thrilled I am to be able to right a review about a book that has meant so much to me. This is one of the BEST books I have EVER read--and I don't say that lightly! It totally changed my outlook on my marriage and helps me stay focused on what God has promised and on what I can be doing to improve my marriage. And because this book has been such a help to me, my husband has also benefitted. It's written for the woman who believes in God, but whose husband does not---and offers PRACTICAL, BIBLICAL help in handling the difficulties that accompany such a marriage: how to raise children, communication breakdowns, divorce, arguments, friendships, and much, much more! It is also a FANTASTIC book for group study--exercises are included in the book. It is an especially good resource if you're not very familiar with the bible. Jo Berry does a GREAT job directing you to applicable scripture and it's not overwhelming or confusing. And because my marriage continues to change, the type of help I need continues to change. I've referred to the book many times over the past 7 years. It will be WORTH EVERY PENNY! | | The right perspective | | Ms. Berry has written a no-nonsense book about what a christian wife is regardless of whether she is married to a christian or not. I appreciate her honesty in writing about women who's husbands came to God, and those who did not. She does not provide a "plan" to help your husband build a relationship with God; but rather, she shows a wife how to maintain her relationship with God and her husband in virtual harmony. I bought 7 copies of this book and gave them to women who are married to non-believers (as I am), their relationship with God and their husbands has been transformed. The key thing is to apply the principals, which are biblical, and God will bless the effort. | | An honest look at the unequally yoked marriage | | I wish that I had read this book before I married and before I tried to manipulate my husband to attend church, pray with me, etc. There is one small part of this book that I disagree with, however. On pages 40 and 41, Ms. Berry states that, "...it is impossible to communicate spirtual truth to an unspiritual person," and reminds the saved spouse that nothing she can say will save her husband. I agree but my husband wants to know what I believe and why. We do talk about spiritual matters because he (sweetly) says, "they are important to you." There is a time to be silent but I think that there also times to discuss Christian issues that are currently relevant in our daily lives. | | Top Book products |
